An Introduction
We get it, TikTok is complicated. Through the new medium generation Z is shifting culture in a more intricate and significantly faster manner than ever before. It is always in the best interest of businesses to be in contact with culture and this newsletter will be a space to guide you through Tik Tok culture for just that purpose. Each week we communicate new formats and different trends as they appear on the platform, and we provide light on how a brand can be brought into that culture to capitalize on it. Otherwise, we hope you enjoy our (slightly sarcastic) look into the world of Tik Tok and how it might help your brand become the next most watched thing.
A Basic Guide to TikTok Trends
(Tik Tok trends for dummies)
A trend as we talk about it on the whole is a little vague to the realm of TikTok. On the platform, trends take the roles of video structure and specific video themes to be put under this designation. We like to define them as:
Format based trends
Same basic video structure and element arrangement
Often uses same TikTok sound
Topic based trends (ideas/concepts)
Always centered around a theme or similar topic
Aligned with a current cultural topic of conversation
More often on TikTok this happens to be a very random fad that caught on because of an entertaining video
These trends, unlike those of the past, are on an extremely short timeline. Usually they will last a few days but even for the widely accepted ones, they usually won’t last more than three weeks. It’s a ticking time table on Tik Tok these days and although it’s quick, people can still utilize these basic quite lines for navigating finding a good time.
